New Grid Instance

The New Grid Instance tool activates the Grid Instance Wizard. The wizard is used to create a new grid instance in the current model and contains the following pages.

Settings Description
General Settings Provides input options to specify the name for the new instance, the level to place the grid object, and the display priority of the instance. By default, the instance is displayed at priority 500 which places it above your map elements.
Grid Definitions Lists the available grid and graticule definitions. Select the definition to be included in your grid instance. The grid instance can include a grid and graticule definition. All included grids definitions must share the same scale.
Unit Selection Provides options to choose the units to input the grid instance extent and input paper dimensions. The units are a combination of paper and real world units.
Instance Extent This page defines the extent of the instance. If preferred, you can place the instance interactively when the wizard completes.
Neat Line Defines the display symbology of the neat line. The neat line is the box where the grid linework is clipped.
Mask Frame Provides options to display the mask frame which is an opaque area surrounding the neat line. If selected, you can then define the color and size of the mask area.

Note: You must have at least one grid or graticule defintion available in order to add a new grid instance.

Note: A grid instance can include both a grid and graticule definition. This allows you to show orthogonal lines and latitude/longitude lines on the same map.

When all options have been set, press Finish to complete the creation fo the grid instance. The grid instance will be added to the Instances tab of the Grids and Graticules dialog. Selecting the instance will show the following property panes: General, Units, Extent / Location, and Frames.
